Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to Australian Business Funding Pty Ltd (ABN 29 662 103 184), referred to in this policy as "we", "our" and "us". It covers our websites, including australianbusinessfunding.com.au and our mobile quote site, and the other ways we deal with you, such as by phone and email.

We arrange commercial finance, which is finance for business purposes only. We do not arrange consumer credit. We are an independent finance broker. We submit some applications through the COG aggregation network.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information.

2. What personal information we collect

Most of the people we deal with are connected to a business that is seeking finance, such as directors, shareholders, partners, trustees, guarantors and business contacts. Depending on the finance being arranged, we may collect:

If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to arrange finance for you or your business.

3. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information:

4. Why we collect and use personal information

We collect and use personal information to:

We will only use your personal information for these purposes, for related purposes you would reasonably expect, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. Who we share personal information with

To arrange finance for you or your business, we may share your personal information with:

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, such as cloud email and storage providers, may store or process information on servers located outside Australia, including in Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Lenders we deal with may also disclose information overseas, as set out in their own privacy policies.

7. Use of software and AI tools

We may use software tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools from third-party technology providers, to help us process enquiries, prepare and manage finance applications and handle documents. These tools assist our staff. They do not decide whether you get finance; lenders make credit decisions. The providers may be located overseas, including in the countries listed above, and are subject to the same confidentiality and data handling obligations as our other service providers. Your personal information will not be used to train AI models by these providers.

8. Credit information

We arrange commercial (business) finance only. With your consent, we may disclose identification and other credit-related personal information to a credit reporting body (CRB), obtain a credit report to help us assess a finance or guarantor application, and disclose information to credit providers and our aggregator so an application can be submitted and managed. Credit-related personal information is handled in line with Australia's privacy and credit reporting laws, including the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2024 where it applies.

Lenders we deal with may also obtain credit reports about the business and about individuals connected to it, such as directors and guarantors, and may share information with CRBs. How each lender handles credit information is set out in that lender's own privacy and credit reporting policy, which is available on its website. We can tell you which lenders your application has been submitted to.

Credit reporting bodies that we or lenders may deal with include:

You can ask a CRB for the information it holds about you, ask it to correct that information, and request that it not use your information for direct marketing pre-screening.

9. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy and to meet our legal and record keeping obligations. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or remove identifying details.

10. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small data files a website stores on your device. Our websites do not currently use analytics or advertising tracking tools. If we add tools such as Google Analytics or advertising pixels in future, they will be used to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies, although some website features may not work properly if you do.

11. Marketing and opting out

We may contact you about finance products and services that may interest you. You can ask us to stop at any time by using the unsubscribe option in our emails or by contacting us using the details below.

12. Access and correction

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if you think it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. Please contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing, unless it would be unreasonable to do so.

If you are not fully satisfied with our response, or we have not responded within 30 days, contact the Complaints Officer at compliance@platform.com.au. That is the Complaints Officer for COG Aggregation Pty Ltd and the Platform Finance Group (our aggregator).
